A SHARED HOME — CAREY ISLAND

Client
SD Guthrie Berhad
The Background
With a heritage spanning nearly two centuries, SD Guthrie has continuously evolved its approach to sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation and community development. Guided by its “Beyond Zero” sustainability framework, the company is committed to creating positive environmental and social impact through three strategic pillars: Zero, Restore and Transform.
As these initiatives continue to grow, there was an opportunity to make their impact more tangible and accessible to wider audiences by bringing sustainability stories beyond reports and into real-world experiences.
The Big Idea — A Shared Home: A Legacy, Keepers of the Future
Rather than focusing solely on corporate messaging, the campaign invited audiences to experience sustainability through the lens of place, people and purpose.
Carey Island became the narrative centrepiece—a living landscape where certified sustainable palm oil production exists alongside biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, heritage preservation and thriving local communities. The island served as a compelling demonstration of how environmental stewardship and community development can coexist and create lasting impact.
Grounded in SD Guthrie’s “Beyond Zero” pillars of Zero, Restore and Transform, the campaign translated strategic commitments into authentic stories that audiences could connect with and understand.
The Execution
The campaign was developed as an integrated storytelling ecosystem, with each format contributing a distinct perspective while reinforcing the overall narrative.
Documentary
An immersive visual journey that brought Carey Island to life through stories of people, landscapes and ongoing sustainability initiatives, showcasing stewardship in action.
Long-form Editorial Feature
An in-depth feature exploring SD Guthrie’s legacy, its “Beyond Zero” framework, and the interconnected efforts across biodiversity conservation, heritage preservation and community development.
Social Media Amplification
Targeted social content expanded the campaign’s reach and encouraged audiences to engage with the documentary and editorial feature, extending the conversation across multiple platforms.
Integrated Audience Journey
Together, these touchpoints created a cohesive experience—from discovery through social media, to emotional engagement via documentary storytelling, and deeper understanding through editorial content.
The Outcome
By transforming sustainability into an experience rather than simply a message, A Shared Home brought SD Guthrie’s long-term commitments to life through authentic storytelling and real-world examples.
The campaign showcased how responsible production, biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage and community development can exist within a shared ecosystem, reinforcing SD Guthrie’s position as an organisation committed to creating enduring value for people, nature and future generations.
